About Us & Our Beef

At Shurden Farms, we believe that great beef starts long before harvest day.

Our farm has been part of North Mississippi agriculture since the late 1940s, beginning as a dairy operation before transitioning to a cow-calf herd in the 1990s. In 2023, we launched our farm-to-table beef program, allowing us to provide locally raised beef directly to families across the region.

The name 3G Cattle represents both the third generation operating the farm and the three generations currently working together to continue its agricultural heritage.

Why Choose Our Beef?

We don’t expect customers to buy from us because of a heartwarming family story. We believe the quality of the product should speak for itself.

Quality beef starts with genetics, nutrition, animal health, and proper handling. We invest heavily in each of these areas because they directly impact the eating experience. Our cattle are selected for performance, raised with careful attention to nutrition and health, and managed using low-stress handling practices throughout their lives.

One of the most overlooked factors affecting beef quality is stress. Transportation is one of the most significant stressors cattle experience. Stress can negatively impact tenderness, color, moisture retention, and overall eating quality.

To minimize that stress, our cattle are harvested on the farm in a familiar environment. This eliminates transportation to a processing facility and helps reduce unnecessary stress immediately prior to harvest.

Our beef is then processed in a USDA-inspected facility and dry-aged to further enhance tenderness and flavor.

The result is beef that reflects the factors that actually matter: superior genetics, responsible management, low-stress handling, careful processing, and attention to quality from beginning to end.

We believe great beef isn’t created by marketing. It’s created by doing the small things right every day.
